Black Mirror is known for putting its finger on all our modern nightmares, and the new trailer for its Jodie Foster-directed episode promises nothing less.
This time, its gaze is shifted towards parents. We see La La Land’s Rosemarie DeWitt play a young mother, who, after nearly losing her daughter Sarah at a playground, decides to try out a new technology. Arriving at a sleek medical office, DeWitt agrees to enter the “trial-period” of the program, as she’s assured that “it’s completely safe.” If we know anything about Black Mirror, we know that the remedy will produce results much more scary than the initial problem it aims to solve. “The key to good parenting is control,” the trailer tells us, while we see a nurse inject a substance into Sarah with a needle. We’ll have to wait until the release of Season 4 to find out how this unfolds. While Netflix has not yet announced an official release date, we know that the upcoming season will consist of six episodes. Considering that the “San Junipero” episode of the previous season won two Emmy’s this year, we’re sure the upcoming episodes will produce more chills than ever.
