Carrie Bickmore posts Instagram photo showing the reality of parenting – NEWS.com.au

Carrie Bickmore has shared a brutally honest post about the realities of parenthood — and people are loving it.

The 38-year-old shared two contrasting images of her with daughter Adelaide and fans have praised the 2DayFM presenter for “keeping it real”.

In one snap, Carrie casually lies on a couch with the adorable bub lovingly cradled in her arms.

The Project host looks super glamorous as she naps beside her newborn with a large blue hat covering half her face.

But when you swipe right, the mum-of-three can be seen in a different light, sprawled on the couch looking absolutely exhausted.

“INSTAGRAM verses REALITY (swipe right),” Carrie captioned the photos, shared several hours ago.

“1st pic was taken on a flattering angle, with some props, some casual hand positioning, some clever cropping and a nice little filter added,” she wrote.

“The 2nd was the real moment captured without my knowledge a couple of weeks after Adelaide was born before I woke up and suggested we take a nice shot.”

It didn’t take long for parents to praise the presenter for revealing the candid truths about caring for young ones.

“God I love this so much @bickmorecarrie keeping it real,” one delighted follower wrote.

“That’s most women with or without a new born after a long day/ night,” another said, adding the hashtag “#keepingitreal”.

One person said: “Oh you’re amazing. All us women need to know that nobody is perfect and what we see on social media is not always real. Thank you for being so real you are a total inspiration to Australia women!”

Others said the honest post made them laugh out loud because it was so “relatable”.

“One of those chestnuts that actually makes you LOL. Gold!” a tickled fan said.

“Haha, we all can relate, hooray for reality,” another wrote.

It’s not the first time Carrie has shared “real” views on motherhood since welcoming Adelaide with partner Chris Walker in December last year.

In another adorable selfie with her bub she revealed the many highs and lows she’d experienced since becoming a mum again.

Describing surviving on four hours’ broken sleep, a trip back to hospital with mastitis and googling “what is reflux” at 3am — the post struck a cord with many new parents across the country amassing 50,000 likes within just a few hours.

The 38-year-old’s post revealed the rollercoaster of caring for a baby, mentioning “boobtime”, “Late night pram walks”, “Cuddles”, “Arguments”, “Conflicting advice given”, “Struggle with existing 3 year old”, “Hours spent staring at Adelaide”, “Feeling overwhelmed”, “Feeling like it’s all going to be ok”, “Tears of happiness”, “Tears of exhaustion” and “Bursting with love and gratitude.”

She also has to grapple with three-year-old daughter Evie with Chris, as well as 11-year-old Oliver whom she had with her late husband Greg Lange, who died of cancer in 2010.

Despite the rollercoaster of emotions, Carrie clearly relishes her latest challenge, revealing she and Chris were “absolutely besotted” with little “Addie”.
