A new season of Black Mirror is almost upon us, and though we still don’t actually have a release date yet—early January? New Year’s Day? Christmas Eve?—Netflix has begun rolling out trailers for us to watch on black mirrors of our own. The preview for the next batch’s first episode, “Arkangel,” dropped on Saturday, promising a heartfelt episode about a mother’s love for her daughter in which everything turns out great in the end.

Yeah, sure.

In the trailer, a single mom and her adorable daughter live together on a small suburban street, playing hide and seek and generally having a great time until the day the daughter goes missing from a local playground. The mother enlists neighbors to help her on her frantic search. Though they do finally find the child, the incident prompts her to bring her daughter to a facility for an experimental treatment. If the shot of a doctor injecting something into the side of the little girl’s temple doesn’t make you cringe, the trailer’s single-sentence summary—“The key to good parenting is control”—definitely will.

Black Mirror, at its core, examines how far we will allow technology to go in order to get what we want and to protect the ones we love—and more often than not, the hapless characters of Black Mirror end up going much, much too far. How much of her daughter’s life does this mom think she can dictate? When will the other shoe drop on this “perfectly safe” experimental parental control treatment?

We’ll find out when Season 4 premieres on Netflix. One thing is for sure: This is not going to go well.
