Adventures in Parenting: Santa Brunches are a’plenty this month

Looking to break bread with ol’ St. Nick this holiday season? There are so many opportunities to share a meal with the jolly old soul (and sometimes the Mrs., too!) around the Seacoast this month.

Things kick off this weekend on Sunday, Nov. 26 from 10 to noon at the Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury with a Naughty & Nice Holiday Brunch with character visits from Santa and the Grinch, sweet and sour ice cream bar, music, movies, scavenger hunt, holiday activities and more (including breakfast!). Next weekend on Saturday, Dec. 2, join Mr. and Mrs. Claus for a Pancake Breakfast as part of Exeter’s “Ring in the Season” event from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at the Exeter Area Lions Club. Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh fruit, juice, coffee and visits with Santa. Cost for adults is $6, children under 12 are $2. Visit ringintheseason.info for more info.

Also on Dec. 2 as part of the York Festival of Lights celebration, head over to Lobster Cove Restaurant on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. for Breakfast with Santa which includes visits and a complimentary coffee and pastries; regular menu also available. See yorkparksandrec.org for more information.

On Sunday, Dec. 3, the Blue Ocean Music Hall is hosting a special Polar Express Pajama Party from 10 a.m. to noon. Come in your PJs for brunch, storytime, a scavenger hunt and a visit from Santa and his elves. Cost is $35 per person and space limited. Reservations are required by calling (978) 462-5888. Running every Sunday in December, the Wentworth Hotel will hold its Santa Brunches (Dec. 3, 10 and 17) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your Christmas wish lists to finalize with Santa himself. The home of the famous chocolate fountain, The Old Salt, is holding its Santa Brunch on Sunday, Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon, and Santa himself will be on hand for Christmas wishes and photos. On Saturday, Dec. 16, Kittery Rec invites you to the Kittery Community Center for Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. All tickets only $5. No pre-registration needed. See kitterycommunitycenter.org for info.

On Sunday, Dec. 17 at Smolak Farms in North Andover, Massachusetts, enjoy a light meal, followed by crafts, story time, and a cookie decorating. At this time of the year, you can expect to see Santa stop by for some Christmas fun. Please note that this event is held in their historic (read: unheated) barn. Please dress accordingly. Space is limited and reservations are required by calling 978-682-6332 or visiting smolakfarms.com.

FYI: In case you have been in years past, the following locations will not be having a holiday brunch for the 2017 season: The Oaks Golf Course in Somersworth; Red Barn Inn at Outlook Farm and the Sheraton Harborside in Portsmouth.

After all this, Santa must be really full!
