AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – It’s been just less than two weeks since a group of puppies were thrown out of a moving car on Gordon Highway, and one of those puppies has become a living miracle.

AC/DC, or “Ace” for short, is an 8-week-old puppy who’s finally learning to live the good life. After one surgery and a few touchy nights, he’s almost ready to go to a loving family.

Ae has been in the care of the veterinary staff at St. Francis Animal Hospital since Thursday, Jan. 31. The doctors have fallen in love with him, and one of the adoption requirements is that Ace will continue to be the primary veterinary clinic for the pup after he finds his new home.

The staff’s three main concerns are that Ace gets the continued care he needs from a vet, that he has space to run around and that his owners have time for him.

The online application will be open for a week before St. Francis will begin home visits. They say that way they can see if he gets along with other dogs, and be sure that he has enough room to play.

The caregivers chose the application process because of how many people want to adopt the sweet and strong pup.

“In order to be fair and make sure he gets the best home he possibly can, we have an application process which allows him to meet multiple families and for them to meet him and make sure that he’s going to be the perfect fit for their house,” explained Jade Maaouia, a vet tech at St. Francis.

Jade has opened her home to Ace as a foster home since he came into St. Francis.

“He’s been amazing. He loves other dogs, he loves children, he loves to ride in the car, he loves AC/DC. We have found out he does like ACDC [music].”

Right now, Ace is doing everything a normal puppy should. He’s jumping, playing with other dogs and eating plenty. The vet staff says they will be sad to see him go, but they’re excited about his new life.

So what are the requirements for Ace’s new home? Here’s what you must have or do to adopt him:

  • A fenced in backyard
  • Time to play with and bond with a dog
  • Keep care at St. Francis Animal Hospital

The application process will be open until Feb. 18th, so apply now!
