Dixie, Lenore and Petunya are looking for forever homes!

NORTHERN MICHIGAN (WPBN/WGTU) — Looking for a new best friend? Well, the animals below are looking for you too! Every Friday we will feature some very special dogs and cats that might steal your heart!

Say hello to Dixie!

Dixie is a one year old beagle-terrier mix who is full of energy!

This sassy little girl is full of love to give and is also in love with her red ball! Would you be the one to play ball with her?

If you would like to meet Dixie call Great Lakes Humane Society in Leelanau County at 231-846-8293.

Meet Lenore!

Lenore is 6 years old and a beautiful ‘Russian blue’ girl.

Lenore is a sweet girl but very shy and may be scared going into a new home until she feels safe. A calm, quiet home for her will be the best with someone who is experienced with cats and is willing to give her all the time she will need. Lenore is not fond of men so a female only household is necessary.

Lenore is a gentle soul who just needs that special someone to give her the chance to become a wonderful friend and companion.

If you are interested in adopting Lenore, fill out a preadoption questionnaire and an AC Paw volunteer will give you a call.

Say hello to Petunya!

Petunya, or Tuney-Tune, Tuna Casserole or just plain Tune, was brought to Cherryland Humane Society from an Arizona kill shelter where she was scheduled to be euthanized. Prior to that she was used for breeding at a puppy mill – so this girl has had a pretty rough start to life to say the least!

Luckily, one of the shelter’s volunteers developed a very special place in his heart for her and made the long drive from Arizona to Traverse City to save her.

Petunya is one of the sweetest and smartest dogs ever – she also needs to be the spoiled, only dog in the house.

If you would like to meet Petunya stop in at the Cherryland Humane Society in Traverse City. You can call the shelter at: 231-946-5116.

Say hello to Bonnie and Clyde!

Bonnie and Clyde are about 8 months old. Clyde is super snuggly and Bonnie will play for hours.

If you have room in your home and heart for these loving kittens contact the new nonprofit in East Jordan Just Cats. The organization is also looking for foster homes if you can help! You can call 231-674-5261 for more details.
